Benson E. "Gene" Hall & Elmo M. Wilcox, Jr. have both recently passed away.  Gene died on Thurs. May 26, 2011.  He was a long time VPSA member and was the first recipient of the "Wade H. West Sportsman of the Year Award" in 1983.  He was also inducted as a "Life Member" around the same time.  Gene also won the coveted "Tom Barclay Award" three times for harvesting the largest deer by a member during a hunting season and was inducted in the "VPSA Hall of Fame" in 1992.  Gene also served as VPSA Treasurer and served on the Board of Director of the organization for many years.  Click here for obit!

Elmo died on Sunday, May 29, 2011.  He founded Wilcox Bait & Tackle along with his wife Anne in the mid 1950 in Newport News,  Elmo was also was a "VPSA Hall of Fame" inductee in 1994 and  was granted "Life Membership" in 1996. Elmo served as a Board Member for many years in the 1980's and 90's and he and his family have been big supporters of VPSA for many years.  Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at W.J. and Son Funeral Home and Funeral Service will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, June 3, at Ivy Farms Church of the Brethren.  Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.  Click here for obit!

Our condolences and sympathy are extended to both families.  Both men will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege to know them.
